What is BloomGPT?
BloomGPT is a project at the University of Agder combining the use of ChatGPT as learning assistant to Bloom’s taxonomy of educational outcomes, more concretely to Bloom’s six cognitive processes of learning (remembering, understanding, applying, analysing, evaluating and creating).
The main aim of the project is to improve the awareness of the students on the need of approaching and using any kind of sources, including LLMs, in a critical way. At the same time, we wish to make the students (more) aware of the cognitive processes of learning and the different types and levels of knowledge.
Our experience from 2023 (when we first piloted BloomGPT) shows that using ChatGPT as an additional teaching and learning tool makes teaching more attractive and challenging, and improves the students’ enthusiasm and motivation, thus strengthening student-active learning.
