Under the new &#8220;core protection&#8221; offer, asylum seekers will receive only 30 months of leave to remain and could be removed as soon as their home country is deemed safe. The plan also ends the government\u2019s legal duty to provide housing and financial support, making allowances discretionary rather than guaranteed. Furthermore, the overhaul removes the automatic right to family reunion for refugees unless they transition to a new &#8220;work and study&#8221; visa route.
