A UN report reveals that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied militias killed over 6,000 people during a brutal three-day offensive in Darfur region, Sudan, in late October. The violence included ethnic-based mass killings, widespread sexual assault used as a weapon of war, and the abduction of civilians for ransom. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk stated there are reasonable grounds to believe these atrocities amount to war crimes and possible crimes against humanity.
