A whistleblower has publicly accused UK Foreign Office officials of deliberately “censoring” warnings about the risk of genocide in Sudan, particularly in the Darfur region. The analyst claims the term “genocide” was prohibited from internal risk assessments shortly after the civil war erupted in 2023. This alleged suppression may have been intended to shield the UAE, a UK ally accused of arming the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), from scrutiny. The RSF recently seized El Fasher, the last major city in North Darfur, raising international alarm about mass killings and the potential for systematic atrocities.
