Hundreds of Israeli soldiers, supported by armored vehicles, conducted a major “counter-terrorism operation” in the occupied West Bank town of Tubas, near Nablus. This operation was the biggest such deployment in the West Bank since the Gaza ceasefire came into effect last month. The Israeli military distributed leaflets informing residents that the area had “become a haven for terrorism.” Violence in the West Bank has dramatically increased since the Gaza war began, with the UN noting that Israeli forces or settlers have killed over 1,000 Palestinians in the occupied territory since October 2023. Human Rights Watch also recently accused the Israeli government of war crimes due to the forced displacement of West Bank refugee camp populations earlier in 2025.
