An organization named Al-Majd Europe has been facilitating charter flights for Palestinians to leave Gaza for third countries, including a recent flight to South Africa. While Al-Majd claims it is helping with voluntary emigration, human rights organizations are expressing concern that these movements amount to “forcible transfer.” These groups argue that given the current “unlivable” conditions in Gaza, any choice to leave cannot be truly voluntary, especially as Israel refuses to guarantee the right of return.
