Amnesty International released a new report accusing Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of committing extensive war crimes and crimes against humanity in the western region of Darfur. The report details deliberate and widespread ethnic killings of civilians, along with systematic sexual violence, primarily targeting non-Arab communities. These alleged atrocities are exacerbating the country’s humanitarian crisis and displacement catastrophe. The findings were released shortly after the RSF declared a unilateral truce, a move which rights groups met with deep skepticism. Amnesty is urgently calling for the UN Security Council to impose an arms embargo and establish robust mechanisms to protect civilians in the conflict zone.
