European diplomats are demanding a formal role in the ongoing negotiations concerning the US-Russian peace plan for Ukraine. The European Union insists that any settlement must be “just and lasting,” and not reward Russian aggression by forcing Ukraine to cede control. EU leaders stressed that without European input, the plan lacks the necessary international legitimacy to ensure lasting regional security. They further noted that Russia has yet to offer any meaningful concessions to end its military campaign.
